Why There Are So Many Singles in America?

Once upon a time in America, marriage was the norm for adults. But now, for the first time since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began tracking these numbers, there are more single Americans than people who are married.

As a demographic category, Single people in the US are growing faster than Married, a trend that has continued uninterrupted since 1960. In fact, Singles now outnumber married adults! In 2011 there were 102.1 million singles in America, that represented 44.1% of all US residents. By 2014, just 3 short years later, there are now 124.6 million singles in America, representing over 50% of all US residents.

While the national population is fairly evenly split between men (49.5%) and women (50.5%) the singles demographic skews a bit more with women making up 53% of singles, and men only 47%. That means there are 86 unmarried men for every 100 unmarried women. But the definition of “single” is a bit vague. Statistically, it simply means unmarried. And that leaves plenty of room for different family structures.
Social media and online dating sites have presented singles with more choices than ever, which also seems to help them find their loved one and perhaps tie the knot eventually. There are around 40 million Americans who use online dating services, not to mention international users too. With these online dating services, Americans have the opportunity to browse gorgeous ladies from different countries such as RussiaUkraineColombia, the PhilippinesMexico, among others. Single women can upload their profiles too in hope of finding their one true love. Romance tours are now the best options to meet stunning beautiful single women from online dating sites.
Through these match making services, the statistics for single Americans could somehow be changed ten years from now.
